Hi, I am Dr. Melissa Feldman; I am a proud Florida native - having grown up in Miami, Florida before graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's in Animal Biology, a Master's in Public Health and Epidemiology, and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. I have always had an insatiable interest in all things animal-related, but it was through my public health training that I realized the importance of the human-animal bond and the vital role a veterinarian holds, acting as the mediator between humans, animals, and the environment. As a general practitioner, I believe it is important to apply this fact every day by thoroughly explaining my patients' case with their owners. My goal is for you to not only understand 'the what' but more importantly 'the why.' As a result of this fervent belief, I have developed a keen interest in internal medicine but also have an advancing interest in soft tissue surgery. I could not be more excited to be joining the excellent team at Bay Moorings Animal Hospital; where we provide exceptional care for your furry family members and also teach you the tools necessary to keep them healthy and happy.
My husband Tim and I have multiple furry family members of our own. We have a 15 year-old Himalayan cat named Superman who is a cancer survivor. We have a 7 year-old Great Dane named Xaria I rescued while in veterinary school, and most recently we have acquired a 16-week old Labrador Retriever puppy named Donovan! In my spare time, I most enjoy being on the water - my husband and I can regularly be found paddle boarding and kayaking all over Tampa Bay. On occasion, I will even tie up the longboard and head to the East Coast for some surfing! Tim and I have fallen in love with the city of St. Pete; we are eager to set some roots here and I could not be happier to call Bay Moorings Animal Hospital home!
